Treatment Philosophy

We draw from the time-tested tenets of traditional Chinese medicine, classical homeopathy, and Ayurveda, systems of medicine that have been passed down through generations and are grounded in the unchanging laws of nature.

Energy balance is key in the natural order of many elements – day balances night, hot balances cold, female balances male. These principles also hold true within the human body. By looking at each individual patient from an “energy balance” point of view, we help our patients achieve deep healing and a return to complete health and well-being.

The Importance of Conventional Medicine

As a conventionally trained doctor, Dr. Branch holds a great respect for ancient medicine and the knowledge it offers, and believes that it can blend with modern day diagnostics to provide patients with effective treatments. State-of-the-art labs can help to reveal important markers about a patient’s overall health condition. The key is to blend traditional and modern medicine in a way that results in optimal treatment strategies for each patient – to treat the person, not the lab number.

Yin (Water) Balances Yang (Fire)

Balance between the two fundamental forces of Yin (Water) and Yang (Fire) forms the basis of all traditional Chinese medicine. Whenever the forces of water/coolness and fire/heat are not balanced in the body, inflammation occurs, resulting in disease. Although this seems like a simple idea, its importance in the understanding and attainment of overall health is profound.

At Foster Branch Healthcare, we use sophisticated measurement tools to evaluate your Yin-Yang balance, both in the body as a whole and in each separate organ system. All treatment should strive to restore balance to each organ system and the body as a whole. This approach seeks to eliminate inflammation, and thus disease, in the body.

Like Cures Like

Often the called the Law of Similars, “let like be cured by like” is the basic principle of homeopathy, from which the name is derived (Homeo = same as, Pathia = suffering). What this means, in essence, is that natural substances that produce symptoms similar to a given disease, but are superior to the disease in strength, can be used to cure it.

Classical homeopathy is Dr. Branch’s favorite way to treat patients because of its depth and power. It is capable of treating both mind and body simultaneously like no other discipline can.

Harmonizing Each Unique Constitution

In both Ayurvedic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, a person’s unique constitution is given by the energies of the universe, from which we originate, at the time of birth. At Foster Branch Healthcare, we specialize in analyzing your unique constitutional energies from multiple points of view.

Ayurveda understands an individual’s constitution as a combination of three basic energies: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Kapha is the principle of grounded, downward moving energy that, when out of balance, can produce weight gain. Treatment strategies for this problem may include an emphasis on hot, upward-moving energy in that person’s diet, herbal treatment and life. The goal here is not to change the patient’s unique constitution, but rather, to harmonize it.
